Latin Name: Tsuga canadensis (L.) Carr.

Common Name: Hemlock (or Eastern Hemlock)

General Description: Large tree, commonly reaching a height of 30 m (100 feet) or more and with a large straight trunk.

Geographical Distribution: Found throughout the northeastern United States and extending south in the Appalachian Mountains to northern Georgia and Alabama.

Ecological Distribution: Restricted to lowland areas and generally found along streams in the general region of the four parks but also occurring at high elevations in the Appalachians.

Mycorrhizal Status: Ectomycorrhizal
