Latin Name: Cercis canadensis L.

Common Name: Redbud

General Description: Shrub or small tree, reaching a maximum height of 6 to 9 m (20 to 30 feet).

Geographical Distribution: Found throughout the eastern central and southeastern United States and extending as far west as central Texas and south into northern Mexico.

Ecological Distribution: Generally occurring on well-drained and relatively nutrient-rich soils of lowland areas but most common at edges of forests and in other situations where the canopy cover is not complete.

Mycorrhizal Status: Endomycorrhizal
