General Description: Usually a medium-sized tree up to 18 m (60 ft) but sometimes reaching a height of up to 40 m (130 ft)

Geographical Distribution: Most of the United States east of the Mississippi River

Ecological Distribution: Usually dry upland sites but sometimes also occurring in relatively moist areas

Mycorrhizal Status: Ectomycorrhizal
