Latin Name: Liriodendron tulipifera L.

Common Name: Tulip Tree or Tulip Poplar

General Description: Large tree, commonly reaching a height of 30 m (100 feet) and occasionally exceeding 50 m (185 feet), with a large straight trunk with no lower branches.

Geographical Distribution: Found throughout most of the eastern United States east of the Mississippi River.

Ecological Distribution: Usually occurring in lowland areas with moist, rich soils. Most common in forests subject to disturbance.

Mycorrhizal Status: Endomycorrhizal
