Old Field Community. A type of habitat dominated by various herbaceous plants is especially common at Antietam National Battlefield. Various grasses are also present but herbaceous plants are usually more conspicuous, particularly during the summer and fall, when they are in flower. This habitat type is not very productive for macrofungi since the trees that form ectomycorrhizal associations are absent.
